MCS (Control Systems) is a technical equipment group of the accelerator department (M) at DESY.

It develops and provides the accelerator control systems of all DESY-operated accelerators, in particular PETRA III, FLASH and the European XFEL.
 

The scope and the knowhow of MCS covers both software and hardware for accelerator controls, including:

• Performant accelerator control systems
• Accelerator data and information services
• Web-Services for accelerator controls
• Applications based on the Micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture (MTCA)
• Custom accelerator control hardware solutions
• Integration of PLC-based devices
   

MCS provides controls support or expertise for other scientific or technical equipment groups, departments and organizations at the DESY campus, including:

• Accelerators (M): Technical equipment and coordination groups for accelerator operation
• Photon Science (FS): FS-FLASH-D, FS-LA
• High Energy Physics(FH): FTX
• European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)
• Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL)
• European XFEL GmbH
